You’ll have fun and achieve results faster with our athletic Pilates training designed to strengthen, tighten and tone your entire body.
At DEFINE, form is everything.
Our Signature Method activates your small-twitch muscle fibers with low impact movements from the very first minute—regardless of your fitness level or Pilates background. Expect to build strength, flexibility, balance, and control while sculpting lean, defined muscle. With expert guidance and personalized modifications and progressions, every class is safe, challenging, and built to evolve with you—so you never plateau, only progress.
Before founding DEFINE, Ashley spent over six years in post-operative care, cultivating relationships with patients and developing a deep understanding of how the body moves, heals, and responds to training. PSC Certified and Legree trained, she was recruited by a nationally recognized Pilates brand to open and lead three studios with over 20 instructors — and during this time also became a Master Instructor. She founded DEFINE to bring all of that knowledge to bear in a single, intentional studio built to a standard she had never seen done right anywhere else.
DEFINE is exclusive by design. You could join one of the “knock off” studios popping up claiming to teach “Pilates” on some version of a reformer and accept an inconsent workout because some instructors have only completed a weekend course before teaching class; or you can join a chain/franchise down the road and settle for a one-size-fits-all assembily line approach — Or you can join DEFINE PILATES and BELONG to an exclusive community where our expert Pilates coaching is designed around you—not a template. Your sessions evolve as you do.
DEFINE is more than a reformer Pilates studio in North Scottsdale — we are equipped with premium Balanced Body Reformers, Towers, and Wunda Chairs. Our instructors are required to hold a 500-hour comprehensive Pilates certification — the highest level of instructor training available in the industry — then we handpick the best of the best and arm them with our exclusive DEFINE METHOD because the quality of coaching makes or breaks your experience. Our small group classes, semi-private, and private sessions, are tailored to help your meet & exceed your goals. Proudly serving the communities of Silverleaf, DC Ranch, Grayhawk, Stonegate, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Pinnacle Peak, McCormick Ranch, Scottsdale Mountain, Cactus Corridor and surrounding areas.
DEFINE PILATES is rated 4.9 stars on Google from 215+ clients — every one of those reviews from this one studio. Named BusinessRate Best Pilates Studio in Scottsdale for 2026, based on verified Google Review data.
Ashley is also the author of Nourish and Thrive: Pilates-Approved Recipes for a Balanced Life — available on Amazon — reflecting her full-spectrum approach to movement, nutrition, and healthy living.

We believe all levels can practice with each other, after all, this is what Joe did! Pilates was not meant to be taught in levels and with all of our instructors being Comprehensively Certified, you can be assured you will receive modifications and guidance throughout the workout.
Either one of our classes, Pilates Plus and/or Body Sculpt are “beginner” friendly. Our elite instructors will help you throughout the workout so you do not feel lost. Our instructors offer progressions and modifications to each exercise so you can achieve the most out of each class, regardless of your current fitness level.
You’re in luck, Pilates will help you gain flexibility and mobility over time. Those coming 3-5 days a week say they notice a difference within a couple of weeks to a month.
Congratulations! Please contact our customer experience team by calling the studio, emailing us at [email protected] or fill out your information in the contact us now section of our website.
Yes, we will work with you once you have been cleared by your doctor and can provide a medical clearance note. However, in a private setting only until you have healed to the point we believe you are ready to return to group classes.
Please note: Our group classes are designed for individuals without injuries or significant range of motion limitations. To ensure the highest quality experience, participants must be able to perform and follow the exercises as cued during our group classes.
For those with injuries or mobility restrictions, private training is the most effective and safe option, allowing us to tailor sessions to your specific needs.
If you’re a current member who just suffered an injury and/or limited mobility, please contact the studio. If you are unable to participate in class and follow the exercises as cued, you’ll need to pause your membership and transition to private sessions until you’re ready to rejoin group classes.
A 500-hour comprehensive Pilates certification is the highest level of instructor training available in the Pilates industry. It requires 500+ hours of formal education covering all Pilates apparatus — Reformer, Tower, Chair, Mat — plus anatomy, biomechanics, injury modification, and supervised teaching practice.
The difference between a 500-hour trained instructor and one who completed a short-form course is not marginal. It is the difference between an instructor who sees what is happening in your body and one who is calling out exercises from a list. At DEFINE, 500 hours is the minimum requirement for employment — not an optional credential. Then we handpick the very best – because not all fully certified instructors are created equal. We make sure our instructors know how to flow a room, deliver a great experience, all while helping you progress in your practice.
Absolutely. Reformer Pilates is one of the most well-suited training modalities for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. After 35, changes in muscle composition, bone density, and hormonal balance make high-intensity or high-impact training less effective and harder to recover from.
Reformer, Tower and Chair Pilates provide meaningful resistance training with zero joint impact — fully customizable session by session. Published research found that reformer Pilates three times per week produces significant improvements in strength, sleep quality, and mood, especially in women aged 30–60+. At DEFINE PILATES, our elite comprehensively certified instructors are trained specifically for this life stage and build programs around where your body actually is — not where a generic class assumes it is.
Yes — significantly. Golf requires thoracic rotation, hip stability, core control, and proprioception. These are precisely the physical qualities reformer Pilates develops directly.
DEFINE works with golfers from the communities of Scottsdale, DC Ranch, Grayhawk, Stonegate, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Ancala and surrounding areas who want to improve rotation, consistency, and longevity on the course. Most golfers notice meaningful changes in rotation and hip stability within four to six sessions. Private and semi-private sessions are the most effective format for golf-specific training. And while we can’t promise, we have been given credit on a number of occasions for helping to “significantly improve his/her game.
Classes are 50 minutes!
We do not categorize our classes by levels, as Pilates was designed to be adaptable to each individual’s needs and abilities. Our approach ensures that every session is tailored to your unique progress, allowing for continuous growth and refinement regardless of your experience.
Absolutely! And unlike other studios in the area, we require ALL of our instructors complete a 500 -hour comprehensive certification program recognized by the PMA.

We are excited to announce we will be offering Comprehensive Pilates teacher training starting in 2025. Upcoming programs will have the opportunity to be mentored and instructed directly by the Owner & Founder of DEFINE, ensuring a high level of personal guidance and expertise throughout your training experience. And to ensure each student achieves the best possible outcome, enrollment into this program will be limited and by application only. Contact our studio for more information.
No. However, should you pass through our teacher training program, you will have the ability to audition for any open positions if we have any available.
Pilates contributes to weight loss by building lean muscle, improving posture, and boosting metabolism. While it tones and strengthens, combing Pilates with proper nutrition yields the most effective weight loss results. DEFINE will be offering meal plans in 2025 for those who wish to elevate their experience and optimize their results.
For optimal results and noticeable progress, we recommend attending at least three classes per week. Consistent practice at this frequency allows for more effective improvement in strength, flexibility, and overall conditioning.
Joseph Pilates famously said that after 10 sessions you will feel a difference, after 20 you see a difference, and after 30 you have a new body.

Therefore, we promptly start and end class on time, and we do not let students who arrive 5 or more minutes late to take class out of respect to the students who are currently taking class. Further, this is a safety precaution because if you are 5 or more minutes late, the warm up period as already ended and you could more easily strain or pull a muscle.
