FAQs

Getting Started

How do I get started?

It’s simple! Call us at 480-307-9835. We are always happy to answer questions and assist in determining the best option to achieve your goals!

Local Residents: If you are new to Pilates or just looking for a new routine and have never taken class at DEFINE, sign up for our BEGIN at DEFINE special offer on this website. Our BEGIN at DEFINE promotion was created especially for you! But this promotion cannot be combined with any previous new member offers and is only available to first time visitors to our studio.

Is the first class free?

We do not offer a complimentary class, but we invite you to experience the quality of our instruction and the elevated environment that set DEFINE apart from other studios.

I am new to Pilates; what class is for me? Do you have levels?

We believe all levels can practice with each other, after all, this is what Joe did! Pilates was not meant to be taught in levels and with all of our instructors being Comprehensively Certified, you can be assured you will receive modifications and guidance throughout the workout.

What class do you recommend for a beginner?

Either one of our classes, Pilates Plus and/or Body Sculpt are “beginner” friendly. Our elite instructors will help you throughout the workout so you do not feel lost. Our instructors offer progressions and modifications to each exercise so you can achieve the most out of each class, regardless of your current fitness level.

What if I am not flexible?

You’re in luck, Pilates will help you gain flexibility and mobility over time.   Those coming 3-5 days a week say they notice a difference within a couple of weeks to a month.

Can I still come in if I am pregnant?

Congratulations! Please contact our customer experience team by calling the studio, emailing us at [email protected] or fill out your information in the contact us now section of our website.

What if I have an injury or am currently in Physical Therapy? Can I still take a class?

Yes, we will work with you once you have been cleared by your doctor and can provide a medical clearance note. However, in a private setting only until you have healed to the point we believe you are ready to return to group classes.

Please note: Our group classes are designed for individuals without injuries or significant range of motion limitations. To ensure the highest quality experience, participants must be able to perform and follow the exercises as cued during our group classes.

For those with injuries or mobility restrictions, private training is the most effective and safe option, allowing us to tailor sessions to your specific needs.

If you’re a current member who just suffered an injury and/or limited mobility, please contact the studio. If you are unable to participate in class and follow the exercises as cued, you’ll need to pause your membership and transition to private sessions until you’re ready to rejoin group classes.

Class Information

How long are classes?

Classes are 50 minutes!

Do you have levels for class?

We do not categorize our classes by levels, as Pilates was designed to be adaptable to each individual’s needs and abilities. Our approach ensures that every session is tailored to your unique progress, allowing for continuous growth and refinement regardless of your experience.

Are the teachers certified?

Absolutely! And unlike other studios in the area, we require ALL of our instructors complete a 500 -hour comprehensive certification program recognized by the PMA.

Do you offer private training?

Yes, we offer private Pilates training sessions by appointment. Each private training session is tailored to meet your individual needs and goals. Our instructors will design a program that evolves with you, ensuring continual progress and optimal results. Please contact us to book your sessions by emailing us at [email protected] or fill out your information in the contact us now section of our website. Please make sure to leave your full name, phone number and email.

Do you offer teacher training?

We are excited to announce we will be offering Comprehensive Pilates teacher training starting in 2025. Upcoming programs will have the opportunity to be mentored and instructed directly by the Owner & Founder of DEFINE, ensuring a high level of personal guidance and expertise throughout your training experience. And to ensure each student achieves the best possible outcome, enrollment into this program will be limited and by application only. Contact our studio for more information.

If I complete my teacher training through Define Pilates, will I have a job afterwards?

No. However, should you pass through our teacher training program, you will have the ability to audition for any open positions if we have any available.

Will this service help me lose weight?

Pilates contributes to weight loss by building lean muscle, improving posture, and boosting metabolism. While it tones and strengthens, combing Pilates with proper nutrition yields the most effective weight loss results. DEFINE will be offering meal plans in 2025 for those who wish to elevate their experience and optimize their results.

How many sessions do I need to attend before I see benefits?

For optimal results and noticeable progress, we recommend attending at least three classes per week. Consistent practice at this frequency allows for more effective improvement in strength, flexibility, and overall conditioning.

I arrived 5 minutes or later past the class time and was turned away, why is that?

We are sorry you were running late. It’s our priority to honor and respect our member’s time. Therefore, we promptly start and end class on time, and we do not let students who arrive 5 or more minutes late to take class out of respect to the students who are currently taking class. Further, this is a safety precaution because if you are 5 or more minutes late, the warm up period as already ended and you could more easily strain or pull a muscle. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before class time to assure your spot in class.

What is your late policy?

We follow a STRICT 5-minute policy to avoid interruption to the class in progress and to avoid injury because the warm-up has been missed. We will gladly help reschedule your class to another time.

Studio Policies

What are Define’s Studio Policies?

What is your cancellation policy for classes or privates/semi-privates?

Like other Pilates Studios (not to mention Doctor offices, Dentists, Nail Salons, etc.) we require you cancel at least 12-hours prior to class to avoid losing the class credit or being charged if you are out of credits or on an Unlimited Membership. Please understand exceptions to this policy are very rare to keep it fair to all but we can be emailed (or you may call) to request we consider making an exception for a one-off situation.

What is your refund policy?

All sales are FINAL and non-refundable and non-transferrable. IF you sign up for a service then change your mind, and withing our cancellation policy, we will issue you a credit towards retail and/or another service!

Do you require toe socks?

We do require grip socks to be worn for safety and hygiene. Grip socks provide better traction on the equipment, help prevent slips, and ensure a more stable & effective workout. They also promote a cleaner environment by reducing direct contact with shared surfaces. If you don’t have grip socks, don’t worry, we have them for purchase at the studio.
